Psalm 103:2-
Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits.

I am on vacation last week and this week. When I read this psalm this morning it struck me that
the great blessing of vacation is the time to reflect on the goodness of God. I’ve
often been struck by the tendency in human beings, including myself, to
gravitate towards the negative. Ninety percent of the things in our lives could
be going fine but we will be tempted to dwell on and complain about the ten
percent we wish were different, particularly in regards to other people. So
whether you are on vacation or not I invite you to join me and the psalmist in remembering
all the benefits of being a child of God. The writer goes on to list several of
them. Maybe we could make our own list!
