Revelation 5:13- Then I heard every creature in Heaven
and earth, in underworld and sea, join in, all voices in all places, singing:
To the One on the Throne! To the Lamb!
The blessing, the honor, the
glory, the strength,
For age after age after age. (The Message
Bible)
One of the great joys of life is to go to elementary
school parent’s or grandparent’s days. They always have the kids sing a song.
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir it ain’t, but what comes across is glorious
nonetheless. The above passage is a vision of divine worship and not
surprisingly it includes singing. Whether it’s the national anthem at a ballgame
or a catchy tune in the shower, when we sing we give a part of ourselves that is
unique and strangely intimate. It’s one of the reasons we sing in church. I’d
like to suggest that singing to God could also be part of our private worship.
God is more concerned with the devotion of your heart than the quality of your
voice. Find a song for God this week and sing it aloud as a way of opening your
heart. Discovering new ways to express our love, wonder, admiration, etc., for
God is what the journey of life is all about.
