1 Chronicles 12:32-from Issachar, men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do—200 chiefs, with all their relatives under their command

This strange little verse was highlighted by Gabe Lyons in his book The Next Christians and explained by Alaina in her sermon yesterday. The original writer was listing the tribes of Israel and what they brought to a specific endeavor. Most were noted for their numbers of people or the abilities of their warriors, but this group understood the times and how to react to them. Steve Jobs exemplified this in the area of technology, this understanding of how the possibilities of the moment could be put together to serve the needs and desires of the masses. Who in our day understands what God is uniquely doing in this time and place? Of the people you know or know of, who understands the times and knows what we should do to be faithful to God. That is what we are exploring in our Grow Groups this fall (see the attachment). Come and be part of the search. They start this week.
