Acts 2:1 When the Feast of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Without warning there was a sound like a strong wind, gale force—no one could tell where it came from.
There are occasions where sound proceeds action. On this Memorial Day I am reminded of those who heard the whiz of the bombs and missiles grow louder until the force of the explosion hit. Sometimes, like in this passage, God moves quickly and we only have a brief moment of warning before events unfold on top of us. I’m told that a tornado sounds like a freight train as it approaches. As we enjoy a time of celebration this Memorial Day looking forward to the pleasures of summer, let’s also perk up our ears in anticipation of the movement of God’s Spirit in the coming days. It may come quickly and with little warning. What’s that I hear…..?
