Luke 24:5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?”
The women went to Jesus’ tomb on the first Easter morning and the above was the greeting they got. Way back in 1980 John Travola did a movie called Urban Cowboy which had a hit song in it with the catchy phrase “Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places.” The great cry of the human heart is to be loved and to love in return. Most of us look for it in all the wrong places; sex, security, success, admiration, control, etc. It is the Easter message that the place to look for love is in the person of Jesus, God made flesh who died and rose for us. One of the Lenten hymns we sing each year in our congregation proclaims “What wondrous love is this that caused the Lord of bliss to bear the dreadful curse for my soul.” Where are you looking for love? How would you look for love in Easter life?
