Colossians 3:9, 10- you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator
I think every item of clothing I own, from shirts and slacks and socks to underwear, has been purchased for me by someone else. If it weren’t for birthdays and Fathers Days and Christmases I might be running around naked. As you can guess, I don’t really like to shop. I am also fashion challenged and would end up with dated, mismatched stuff if left to my own devises. But all that doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy getting new clothes and wearing them. I truly do feel like a new person when I put on a new outfit for the first time, crisp and clean until I spill coffee on myself. How much more is putting on the new self, purchased and lovingly given by God, a revitalizing and refreshing act of hope. Kids get new outfits for school each year and it becomes part of a ritual that says “I am growing and meeting the challenges of this coming new year!” What part of the new self that God has bought for you will you put on this week?
