Matthew 7: 14 “small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
Did Jesus really say this? Jesus who said let the little children come to me. Jesus who said come to me all who are weary and carrying heavy burdens and I will give you rest. Jesus who said if I be lifted up I will draw all men to myself. Yes, we are told that same Jesus said that only a few find the small gate and the narrow road that leads to life. It is hard for many of us to understand and feels even less comfortable, but there it is. I guess there are some things we can’t put together from our present perspective. Maybe we never will. But for now we are challenged by Jesus to enter by that small, narrow gate so we had best be about it. Where will you look for this life of which Jesus speaks this week?
