Mark 1:7, 8- As he preached he said, “The real action comes next: The star in this drama, to whom I’m a mere stagehand, will change your life. I’m baptizing you here in the river, turning your old life in for a kingdom life. His baptism—a holy baptism by the Holy Spirit—will change you from the inside out.” (The Message Bible)

Every so often each individual encounters a life changing experience. Can you remember some of yours? These are incidents that alter your understanding of yourself or your world or the world. They have made you who you are and will shape your path into the future. John claimed Jesus was that for him and could be for those who heard John’s message. A lot of life is mundane, ordinary by definition. We hear a lot of messages from others, in person or in the media, which make claims to raise us above all this, usually for a price, and usually without delivering. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be part of something that is fundamentally transformative, that would change people from the inside out? Such is the message of Jesus, the story of Christmas, the discipline of Advent. Has your faith been life-changing? Where this week is God changing you from the inside out?
