John 15:9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.”

Okay, it is not a hard and fast rule, but it is mostly true- we love as we have been loved. On this Mother’s Day it seems obvious that many of us, consciously or unconsciously, pass on the love we received at a pretty young age in much the same way we received it way back when. The basis for our hope as Christians is that somehow in this crazy idea of God which we call the trinity, basic to all being, is love. Materialism says that everything just happened and will just go away someday. Christians say God made it happen out of love and will show his loved ones eternity. To remain in that love is a good thing. If your mother gave that to you, how blessed you are. If your mother didn’t, how wonderful that God can and will heal and redeem our hurts. The passing on of love seems to be what life is all about. This week, how will you embrace the love of God? How will you pass it on?
