Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
I went to a rally for one of the major Presidential candidates over the weekend. I had always wondered what these things were like and the opportunity presented itself so I went. Today, June 7, is primary election day in New Jersey so politics is front and center of the news today. The thing people seem to want is to be able to elect folks who will put aside personal differences and political ideologies in order to work together for the good of the country. In the primary process each candidate puts forth their argument that they and their ideas are the ones that will unite the various factions of our culture. We’ll see what for this takes this time around. One of the reasons that Christianity is still around today is that Jesus and his followers were able to make the case of the verse above that God in Christ can and does overcome the differences in groups and individuals. If Paul was writing the above today might he add “neither Democrat nor Republican, neither Conservative nor Progressive?” This week, where do you see faith in Christ uniting people of different political beliefs? How can Christ work in you to overcome political divisions you encounter?
