Matthew 3:13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John.

There is a saying; I think it has a Chinese origin, which goes (as I heard it) “the journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step.” We will never know what incredible things never happened because someone failed to take that first single step. As Matthew tells Jesus’ story this is his first step. He goes to John from his home region. The story of the Bible, and many of us believe the story of life, is that God acts. In the beginning God created. Paul says in Galatians 4:4 ^“But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman.” When the time was right, that Son started down a road that would lead to a cross and an empty tomb and our salvation. Is there a journey before you that requires a single step? May God send us to our Jordan in 2017.
