1 Kings 17:24 Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the Lord from your mouth is the truth.”
The prophets are a great mystery to me. What it would be like to hear God the way they did is beyond my comprehension. That said, this line about Elijah seems more accessible than most. Ok, he had just been part of restoring a young man who was dead back to life. That is hard to comprehend. But is that the only way someone would say of another, “Now I know that you are a man/woman of God and that the word of the Lord from your mouth is the truth?” Are there things like integrity and compassion and humility that, while not as flashy, might lead to the same end? Do you ever think about how you would like to be remembered after you are gone- what you might like your epitaph to be? This would be a good one, I think. What might you do this week that could lead someone to say, “Now I know that you are a man/woman of God and that the word of the Lord from your mouth is the truth?”
