Mark 1:17 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”
It was warm over the weekend by January standards but when I walked down by the lake the surface was still frozen. Underneath, I believe, is a whole world of life removed from me by this icy barrier. I know in Minnesota they cut holes in order to fish and I hope the Eagles can send them on their way to those pursuits Sunday night. But as I gazed at the lake this weekend all I could think about was the hard, cold barricades in our world that keep people from connecting- both with God and with each other. Some are physical, some social, some political, some personal. The above verse seemed to indicate that through Jesus more connecting might be possible. I hope that is still the case. This week consider, what are the barriers that keep you from connecting with the people around you and the worlds they live in?
