Mark 9:3 His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them.

Do you know why Soap Operas are called Soap Operas? It is because from their inception on radio they were often sponsored by detergent companies whose products promised to get whites whiter and colors brighter. Appearance being so important to so many of us, this became an appealing incentive. The verse above is a description of Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration (last Sunday was Transfiguration Sunday). Rather than an example of how he could cover himself with brightness, this description indicates a revealing of his inner nature, his inner glory, breaking through for the eyes of the disciples he took with him. They would need to hold on to this as their path moved towards Good Friday and the cross. Do we find Jesus dazzling because of his great teaching and self-denial, or are we dazzled that this human could be the glorious “God with us”- the Emanuel of Christmas? This week, where do you experience the glory of Christ?
