ohn 1:16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given.

The Message Bible words it this way, “We all live off his generous bounty, gift after gift after gift.” Many people watched Hamilton as it came to TV this past weekend. Truly an astonishing person for all he achieved, Alexander Hamilton had his darker side also, as the show displays. We all do something with our lives even if no one ever writes a musical adaptation of our story. But none of us created ourselves. We were brought to birth without our aid. And none of us created the world we were born into. It is all a gift. John writes his gospel to tell the world that the gift is from Jesus, the Word there in the beginning and revealed as a 1^st century Jew. We are taught to respond to a gift by saying “thank you.” You would think gratitude would come naturally, but it often doesn’t. To whom are you thankful? “We all live off his generous bounty, gift after gift after gift.”
