Have you heard of Jose Luis de Jesús Miranda? I came across him accidentally as I was doing a google search for other things. The Wikipedia article about him states, “He claimed to be both the returned phase of Jesus Christ and the Antichrist” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%c3%a9_Luis_de_Jes%c3%bas). Who would believe such a thing? That same article states, “the Dallas Morning News reported that de Jesús “preaches to followers in some 35 nations, mostly in Latin America, and has 287 radio programs and a 24-hour Spanish and English-language TV-network. He claimed to have two million followers in 30 countries by 2008.” He died in 2013. How about Simon ben Kosevah?“Known to posterity as Bar Kokhba (died 135 AD), he was a Jewish military leader who led the Bar Kokhba revolt against the Roman Empire in 132 AD. The revolt established a three-year-long independent Jewish state in which Bar Kokhba ruled as prince. Some of the rabbinic scholars in his time imagined him to be the long-expected Messiah” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_bar_Kokhba). So it happens, way back when and even today. “Many leaders are going to show up with forged identities claiming, ‘I’m the One.’” “Watch out.”
