John 18:37 Then Pilate said, “So, are you a king or not?” Jesus answered, “You tell me. Because I am King, I was born and entered the world so that I could witness to the truth. Everyone who cares for truth, who has any feeling for the truth, recognizes my voice.” (The Message Bible)
How do you know what is true? There are so many voices out there declaring this and demanding that. Which ones can you trust to be true? In the end I’m guessing we either choose to go along with the crowd, whether that is the crowd of friends or family or media, or do the hard work of deciding for ourselves what we truly believe. There is a resonance in the deepest part of our being that determines what we believe to be true, a ring of truth so to speak. Jesus here claims that his story, his words, his people create a voice that others recognize as true. What rings true for you? Could it be the king of the Jews?
