It is Advent. The online dictionary defines the word advent as “the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event.” So, what is notable for you this year? Is this the year of the big present? The big romance? The big trip? Or will notable this year be moving beyond the regular Christmas hype to find a different hope? The Advent texts are difficult ones filled with change and challenge; the world shook up; John the Baptist’s rants. We could push all that aside for another glass of eggnog or we could sit with it a while and see if there is something notable going on. Happy Advent!
