Luke 4:16 He came to Nazareth where he had been raised. As he always did on the Sabbath, he went to the meeting place. (The Message Bible)
The “he” here is Jesus. Jesus went to church. It was called the synagogue back then and the Message Bible calls it “the meeting place” but it was where the believers in the God of Israel got together every sabbath to worship alongside one another and today for Christians that is called church. And Jesus went there “as he always did.” Covid has disrupted many things, church attendance being one of them, but almost every church has a Zoom or Livestream connection, and some have both. Yes, you can worship anywhere at any time, but there is something special about being connected regularly with the same group of people to do so. Even Jesus, as special as he was, made it a practice to get there. If you are connecting electronically, you can always reach out to others through phone calls, emails, Facetimes and Skype, or even an old fashioned, hand written note sent through the U. S. Postal system. If Jesus made regular habits of worship and connection a priority, maybe we should too.
